From the Christian Bible
[The prophets of Gloom and Doom are forever with us.]
Psalm 82:6 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in
darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
Proverbs 1:20-33 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the
streets: How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners
delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Because I have called,
and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye
have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will
laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear
cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when
distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I
will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For
that they hated knowledge, they would none of my counsel; they despised all
my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be
filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay
them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth
unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
[The woman does all the work--even to buying the land--while her husband,
like Tevye, sits by the eastern wall.]
Proverbs 31:10-29 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far
above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he
shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days
of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her
hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and
a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the
fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with
strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchanidse is
good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the
spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the
poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of
the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the
land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the
merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in
time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the
law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth
not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her
husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but
thou excellest them all.
[It is the symbolism of Language that gives Man his godlike power.]

the Word was God.
John 1:3-5 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing
made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And
the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Genesis 1:26,28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be

Ecclesiastes 1:13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom
concerning all things that are done under heaven.
Isaiah 14:12-14 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the
morning! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I
will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will ascend above the heights
of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
[Yea, even shall I put my footprint upon the Moon!]
Job 40:7,10,14 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee,
and declare thou unto me. Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and
array thyself with glory and beauty. Then will I also confess unto thee that
thine own right hand can save thee.
[A little wine can bring us happiness.]
Isaiah 24:7,11 The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the
merry-hearted do sigh. There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is
darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
[On the Liberty Bell.]
Leviticus 25:10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim
liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall
be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and
ye shall return every man unto his family.
Ruth 1:16,17 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return
from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou
lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to
me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.

neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
